James A. McPherson - Author of Hue and Cry, Elbow Room, and most recently, Crabcakes. A professor at the Iowa Writers Workshop, McPherson was the first African American to win the Pulitzer Prize for fiction for Elbow Room in 1978.
Michael Carey - Known as the “farmer poet”, Carey is the author of five books of poetry, a teaching manual, and two historical plays.
