"We are very pleased to have the broad experience and skills Dory brings from her work in the nonprofit, public and private sectors," stated McKlveen. "Dory's passion for the library and her community connections will help us to carry out our mission to raise funds and advocate for the Des Moines Public Library."
Briles has served in senior-level administrative and fundraising roles at Tri-Phase Drying Technologies, the Blank Park Zoo, Des Moines Area Community College, the Greater Des Moines Partnership, and the Iowa Department of Economic Development.
"Public libraries provide free access to information and ideas. Our library creates opportunities for residents of all backgrounds and ages," noted Briles. "With six branches and 90 percent of Des Moines residents holding a library card, I am excited by the opportunity we have to contribute to the quality of life in our community."
The Des Moines Public Library Foundation currently raises funds for the Des Moines Public Library through signature events such as the Iowa Author Awards Dinner. The Foundation sponsors the library's popular AViD (Authors Visiting in Des Moines) Author Series and the annual Summer Reading Programs for children and teens.
