Capital Campaign
A unique public/private partnership
between the City of Des Moines, Polk
County and the Des Moines Public
Library Foundation has enabled the
library to undertake a $48 million
facilities improvement plan. The Des
Moines Public Library Foundation has
committed $23 million toward that campaign goal.
Donors to the Capital Campaign have
helped to build a new Central Library,
will help renovate or expand all five of
our community branch libraries, and
build a new library to meet the needs of a rapidly-expanding Southeast side of
Des Moines.
With the generous support of our
donors, the foundation has already
raised more than $20 million of our $23
million pledge.
Community support is still needed
to the complete the library building
projects in Des Moines.
Annual Campaign
Program Support money raised by the Foundation’s
Annual Campaign enables the Des
Moines Public Library to enhance its
collections, programs and services,
both traditional and technological,
beyond what public tax dollars
provide. Foundation funds do not
replace city funding.
Donations to support programs
and collections allow us to function
as a world class library. Without
annual support from donors, we
would not have top-notch
programs and offerings like: AViD, (Authors Visiting in Des Moines), Summer Reading, Library Collections, and Technology.
These programs and services would
not be as enriching or as widely
available without support from our
generous donors!
