Miss Sue is crazy for kids and crazy for books. The best possible combination she thinks.
She’s been telling stories at the Library since 2005. Before that, she owned a children’s bookstore in Des Moines called, The Alligator’s Tale.
Miss Sue loves reading (of course), gardening and spending time with her family and cute, silly monkeys - like Millie. And Millie loves all things B. Like books….and bananas! Another good combination |

Miss Sue says…
As much as I love telling stories, sometimes I just wish I could shut my mouth and let the kids do all the talking! They have SO much to say! So much to share. So much to contribute. In our website this month, instead of focusing on the six early literacy skills that we usually present, we are going to introduce five new research based practices that have been determined to develop prereading skills for preschool aged children. They are; talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing! Things we are all doing every day! These practices don’t replace the six early literacy skills identified by the initiative, “Every Child Ready to Read @ Your Library” - but they sure are easier to remember! They are merely an updated presentation of skills to focus on while working with young children.
We will highlight the different practices on this website and give lots of suggestions for parents and teachers to use to promote literacy. In this Rosie issue, we highlight the ever important prereading practice of talking. We want children to be seen, AND heard!
