VITA: Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and TCE:
Tax Counseling for the Elderly and AARP Tax-Aide
During tax filing season, IRS-trained volunteers answer questions and prepare
basic tax returns. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program helps
those for whom paid assistance may be out of reach, non-English speaking individuals,
and people with disabilities. Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) helps individuals sixty
and older. TCE volunteers receive IRS training on topics of special interest to seniors.
In addition to providing tax help at community centers and retirement homes. TCE volunteers
visit the homebound.
