AOL User Having Trouble Accessing the Online Catalog?

Several AOL Users have reported problems accessing our catalog software. In order to use the
Library catalog with AOL, follow the short procedure below.

When you log on to AOL, minimize that software to your task bar by clicking the minus key up in the
right hand corner. Look around your computer desk top for a blue "letter e" icon. Double click on this icon to bring up Internet Explorer, another piece of software for the Internet. Internet Explorer will open; look for the box labelled Address. In the address box, type www.desmoineslibrary.com and then click the GO! button. This will take you to the Library's Home Page. When you get to our home page, click Search » Catalog. The Login function will now work successfully.

You can now add our catalog to the favorites list in Internet Explorer if you would like to.

The same procedure works with our Library Databases, such as the Sanborn Maps. When you reach our Library's home page using Internet Explorer, click Search » Databases, and then choose the database in which you're interested. You will be prompted for your barcode and PIN, but you won't be prompted for a further user name and password.
